South Jordan was founded in 1859 by Mormon pioneers. Historically it has been an agrarian town. South Jordan is a city located in south-central Salt Lake County, Utah. It is just 18 miles south of Salt Lake City and is a part of the Salt Lake City metropolitan area. South Jordan has become a fast-growing suburb of Salt Lake City. The population of South Jordan was nearly 50,418 during the 2010 census.

The Jordan river is more like a creek and it lies between the Oquirrh Mountains and the Wasatch Mountains. The city of South Jordan includes about 3.5 miles of the Jordan River Parkway. This parkway contains fishing ponds, parks, trails, and natural wooded areas and habitats. The Salt Lake County Fairgrounds and the equestrian park is a beautiful 67-acres along the Oquirrh Lake. There is also 27 parks located inside the city as well.

Not only is South Jordan known for its beautiful parks and farmland, but it also has great shopping centers. Day Break is an up and coming area of South Jordan that offers the South Jordan Towne Center and tons of stores all around a two block radius.
